Hien Chau is Edna Skinner's close friend from Vietnam.
Biography[]
Hien Chau trained in boating skills when she was only ten years old. Hien also knows how to self-defense during the class. However, during the Vietnam War, her grandfather Trung was able to fight back against the American soldiers. Her parents carried her and ran away as fast as possible while avoiding getting shot by American soldiers. Unfortunately, Trung tells his granddaughter to love him before getting shot, which causes her left to become depressed and traumatized.
A few years later, Hien began to focus on rowing the boat around Vietnam. Her family plans to move from Vietnam to the United States when she is 13 years old so that they can become American citizens. Hien still struggles with PTSD despite starting a new, fresh life. She had many bad memories from her homeland, Vietnam, making her doesn't want to remember.
Hien doesn't enjoy living near the crazy neighbors, like making noise, arguing, and trespassing. She decides to find a tranquil place to live alone without interruption or disturbing the peace. After brought many things include furniture and plants, Hien decorates the house to make it creative. Her parents visited her every year because they lived at a separated house located at D Street.
Personality[]
Hien is a hot-tempered, whimsical woman who dislikes trespassers entering her property. She uses the paddle as a weapon because of her father's martial arts skills. As a child, Hien knows how to draw bamboos with her mother then sticks to the wall.

Hien had a long black hair. She wears a red Áo dài over silk trousers and a conical hat.
When she moved to Springfield, Hien wore a dark purple tank top, khaki pants, and sneakers.
