Buckwald "Buck" J. Simpson is the Western ancestor of the Simpson family. He was born in Springfield to Abraham Simpson I and Gabby Crouse. Buck wanted to be a fry cook, so he applied for a job at the Krustofski Kantina, which was run by Christopher Krustofski, the Western ancestor of Krusty the Clown. However, before Christopher could give Buck the job, the notorious villain, Dead-Eye Terwilliger, showed up at the Kantina and demanded money from Christopher, but the cantina manager could not provide any money, so Dead-Eye threatened Christopher and all of the Kantina's customers and staff that if Krustofski could not provide any money by noon tomorrow, he would seize ownership of the Kantina. With the help of Hopalong Van Houten, a frequent costumer, Buck set out to stop the villain.

Personality and traits
Buck Simpson shares personality traits with his great-great-grandnephew, Bart, such as rebelliousness and disrespect for authority, but is different to him at the same time. Buck wanted to save the Krustofski Kantina without any reward, while Bart would want something in return for saving the cantina.
Buck was originally thought to be the great-great-grandfather of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie, but it turns out he was actually their great-great-granduncle, and was the brother of their true great-great-grandfather, "Old Tut" Simpson.
It is unknown why Buck wasn't included on the family tree in The Simpsons Uncensored Family Album. It is possible he was removed like his grandfather, Virgil Simpson, because Buck was an outlaw and the Simpsons didn't want to associate with an outlaw.
